Private School or Public?

So, the time is nigh upon me. My son is eligible for Kindergarten this fall. My husband and I still haven't made the decision of whether he will attend public or private school.

I'm all for private school. I've been a public school classroom teacher, so I know how that environment works -- at least here in Texas. I know that children like my son don't receive the attention they should. My son is smart, inquisitive and ready to learn. If he's not challenged, he loses interest and begins to look for other ways to occupy his time. Sometimes, the things he chooses to do are not that great.

He may start jigging in his chair, tapping on the desk or talk or hum to himself. He may even leave his chair, and then anything goes. He's one of those children that will stay engaged for hours if he's interested, but once he's no longer interested, he starts to act out.

I prefer more personalized environment for my son. Nothing against the public school teachers in my area, at all. I know plenty of teachers that teach in the public school that are fantastic at what they do. It's just that they don't have the extra time to devote to students who are capable and high-functioning. Instead, that time goes to the struggling students.

It sounds like I have it all figured out, but I don't. I have my husband to consider. He gets a vote. He wants me to return to teaching and enroll my son at the school where I get a job. (If I get a job).
