Printable Organizers for Parents

Calendars, day planners and organizers make it much easier to shift through all your activities in order to find time for yourself. The catch, from what I'm finding out, comes into play when I decide I want to purchase one. Most of the functional and pretty calendars have already disappeared from store shelves by the end of January. This is where printable templates come in handy if you're too busy to look for one when they're displayed on the store shelves.

No matter what type of organizer you are, there is a printable worksheet online that you can use to your advantage. Worksheet types include kid activity organizers, kids birthday party guides, grocery store lists, a sheet to list your to do's and those you wish to delegate to someone else along with home and work organizers.

Save Money At The Grocery Store

Loss Leaders, Stocking up, Coupons, and Meal Plans all do their part to save you money.

With prices rising everyday, it can be a challenge to feed your family nutritious food without breaking the bank. Going to the grocery stores can be expensive, but there are many ways to find good deals and save a lot of money. Next time you go to the store try using some of these tips in order to fill your cart without emptying your wallet.

Where to Find the Best Printable Coupons

Some people do not know how many great printable coupons can be found on the Internet. It is best to look at these coupon websites at least once a month, as most of them change their available coupons every month. Once you print off any Internet coupon, it normally expires in about a month, so do not print one off until you know that you will be using it soon. This also keeps you from wasting printer ink and computer paper. Here are some of my favorite websites for finding great printable coupons:

Jumping on the Blog-Wagon

Should you make your life public?

It seems every momma out there now has a blog. Some are works of art and bring in a good income for the mom involved, while others are just a personal record seen by few outside the family. If you're thinking of jumping on the momblog bandwagon, there's a few things to consider first.

Backing out on a Deal

Teaching kids to be true to their word is one of the most important aspects of teaching responsibility.  The best way to teach that principle is to live it, which will also help kids know they are loved and respected.  If parents follow through on promises, it gives a child a sense of consistency and stability.  What happens when they have to go back on a promise they made?  Is there a section in the moral guidebook about how to account for that?

A Lazy Girl's Paradise

The perfect do absolutely nothing vacation spot

I have been dreaming of a vacation for a while now. My one concern coming from past experiences is that vacations can become downright exhausting. In fact there have been times that I’ve returned from a vacation and felt like I really need a vacation, literally to recover from my vacation.

Is Your Child's Preschool Good Enough?

This fall, my little boy will enter kindergarten. I can't believe how time has flown. It seems like just yesterday he was an infant. For the past year, I have been sending him to a child care center with a preschool setting. We live in a small town and there's literally two places to send your child if you want preschool exposure. We don't qualify for public preschool, either.

I started him at this place with the hopes that he would become prepared for all that's to come in kindergarten. It's really amazing what these little guys need to know at this age. He needs to know how to recognize all of his ABCs and write most of them. He needs to be able to count to 20 and recognize all those numbers. He needs to know the sounds that match with the letters. In fact, there's a whole page of things he should know before starting kindergarten.

Moms Need a Break!

A relaxed mom= happy family

Being a mom really is the toughest job in the world. Most women care so much about their family that they rarely take time out to take care of themselves. While this is admirable, a tired, stressed-out mommy can lead to an unhappy family. Moms shouldn't feel guilty about taking a break- a little bit of relaxation can revitalize a mom and allow her to make it through the week in a happy and up-beat mood.

Cupcake Party

Family Fun for Birthdays or Anytime!

It seems that everywhere you look, from magazines to online, you’ll find cupcakes. They’re the hot new thing because… well, because cupcakes are sooooo yummy. With that in mind, what could be more cool than a Cupcake Party with the Kids? You can wrap it around an event, such as a birthday party or it can be a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon with the kids. Whether you’re making cupcakes with one kid or 20, here’s a few things to keep in mind.

Preparing a Family Schedule

So many activities are available in our area that it became necessary to create a family schedule. If you find yourself forgetting your son’s soccer practice or that monthly planning meeting at work, you may want to create a family schedule as well.

First you have to decide whether one large schedule placed in a central location within the home is the best option, or a smaller version of the schedule printed out so that each family member has their own copy. Every family is different, so you need to choose the option that best suits your lifestyle. One large schedule placed on the wall in my kitchen works best for us.

Relax and Recharge After a Long Day

Whether you have a 3-month-old baby or a 7-year-old child one thing remains a constant. You are constantly busy taking care of your family which leaves you with precious little time to relax after a long day. I have a 10-month-old baby and while every day I spend with her is a gift, she often leaves me wanting to pass out the second she falls asleep in her crib. Since I don't want to go to bed at 8 p.m. I have put together a few ways to relax and recharge after my long day. Try one or all of the tips to experience a low-key evening after your kids go to bed.

Participating in a muscle relaxing meditation brings me piece before I fall asleep. After a long and tense week or day I sometimes choose to enter into mental meditation where I picture every muscle in my body releasing tension. I start at my feet and work my way up to the top of my head. The trick to this meditation is to call your focus back if your mind begins to wander while your working on relaxing a muscle. Another key to completing this type of meditation is to start before your too sleepy or you'll drift off before draining all the tension in your body.

10 Must-See Recent Children’s Films

We all have our favorite kids’ movies. They’re usually gems from our childhoods that bring back memories, making them more nostalgic blasts from the pasts that comfort us rather than quality films. Still, children’s movies can still be very entertaining, whether you have kids or not. Here are ten recent children’s films that you might want to check out for your own enjoyment.

Is the internet hurting your self-esteem?

The secrets behind the perfection.

I'm a pretty avid blog reader, for both pleasure and work. I peruse many, many mom blogs. Some I look over for enjoyment or inspiration. Some I am looking at because the blog owner is a client I am coaching in her writing. One thing I come across, both with my coaching clients and with my friends who are also moms who read blogs, is this feeling of inadequacy experienced after a blog reading marathon.

10 Must-See Dramas

And I really do mean you must see these. I insist!

Aside from fantasy, dramatic films are my favorites. And while you’re cooped up this winter, I have my own top 10 list of dramatic films to recommend watching while you snuggle up on the couch. Feel free to post your own list to share as well! And if you need more recommendations, check out this list from The Telegraph.

Dealing with Parenting Doubts

Any parent who truly cares for their children, which is pretty much all of us, will experience doubts from time to time.  As parents, we want our children to grow up happy, healthy and successful, but the road from here to there is paved with stumbling blocks and hiccups that can make us doubt our ability to get the job done.  If you don’t have doubts as a parent, you probably need to take a closer look at your parenting techniques.

Spending Time with Family is More Important Than Gifts

My sister recently had a birthday party for her son. Of course he got a few nice birthday presents, but he won’t remember that birthday because of the gifts he received. It was the time that everyone spent together that made that party great.

One of my sisters bought an antique fire truck with her fiancé that they have been using in parades to win money for various charities. They brought the fire truck over to the party and gave everyone a ride in it (adults and children). He had called ahead to the police station to let them know what his plans were so that he could gain permission to blow the sirens and honk the horns for the kids amusement.
